Helping Children Navigate Life with Mindfulness and Movement
This course will demonstrate the importance of the connection between the physical body and the mind and emotions. Attendees will understand the importance of normalizing strong emotions for children and helping improve their self-efficacy in regulating themselves. The course will also demonstrate ways to make relaxation and healthy movement techniques accessible and fun for children.

Margaret is a school-based mental health therapist at Fruitville Elementary and a master’s level clinician pursuing clinical social work licensure. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Florida State University and previously worked in a hospital setting helping individuals cope with severe and persistent mental illness. Margaret has experience providing both Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporates components of positive psychology. She is also a Certified ChildLight Instructor with training in yoga and mindfulness for children. Margaret has facilitated group and individual yoga classes for children ages 5-12 and hopes to increase awareness of the role that mindfulness and healthy movement have in developing children’s coping skills and resilience.
